Introduction

National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center of MPTES in High Energy and Safety LIBs (hereinafter referred to as the "Engineering Research Center") is the first national local joint engineering research center approved by South China Normal University. This project is approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (High-tech Development and Reform Commission [2019] NO. 180), in January 2019.

The Technical Committee of the Engineering Research Center is composed of 12 top experts in the field of lithium ion battery and academician Wu Feng from Beijing Institute of Technology as the director. The mission of the center is facing for the national "new energy" and "new energy vehicles" strategic emerging industries and committing to solve at the bottleneck problems of energy storage battery. The Engineering Research Center is mainly developing new materials and preparation technologies for functional electrolyte and diaphragm of lithium-ion batteries, which provide technical support for power battery to improve energy density, extend application temperature range and solve safety problems.

The Engineering Research Center is guided by the construction of SCNU and the strategic deployment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, taking maximum advantages of chemistry, materials, engineering and other disciplines to promote the construction of the school’s first-class disciplines and the construction of high-level universities. Furthermore, the Engineering Research Center also pays significant attention in technological innovation system by commercializing research achievements and industry-university-research. All the research are closely connected with the power battery functional materials industry chain, as well as raining and gathering high-level technological innovation talents to server "new energy", "new energy vehicles" and other related industry chains in Guangdong province and even the whole country
