Introduction:

The research team is mainly engaged in the design, synthesis and application exploration of new organic/polymer functional photoelectric responsive materials. The research areas mainly include:

(1) Design and synthesis of organic/polymer room temperature phosphorescence materials and thermally activated delayed fluorescence materials and their applications in smart sensing and display devices;

(2) Design and synthesis of new aggregation-induced luminescence materials and their applications in bioimaging and therapy;

(3) Electrochemical polymerization of organic luminescence materials and their applications in chemical sensing;

(4) Design, synthesis and performance of organic nonlinear optical materials.

The team members currently include 1 professor, 1 associate researcher, and 2 associate professors, as well as postdoctoral, master and doctoral students. Among them, there are 1 doctoral supervisor tutor and 4 master supervisor; 1 was selected as a Young Pearl River Scholar of Guangdong Province; 1 was funded by the Guangzhou Pearl River Science and Technology Rising Star Program; 1 was a “young talent” of South China Normal University. The research team has published more than 100 SCI papers in international authoritative academic journals included Chem. Soc. Rev., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Mater. Horiz., Chem. Sci., ACS Appl. Mater. Inter., Mater., Chem. Front., Chem. Commun., J. Mater. Chem. C., applied for more than 50 Chinese invention patents, more than 40 of which have been authorized. As the project leader, the Team members undertake more than 10 vertical and horizontal projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science of Guangdong Province, the Guangzhou Science and Technology Plan.

In addition, the laboratory has various equipments for synthesis and characterization, such as FLS980 steady-state transient fluorescence spectrometer, differential scanning calorimeter, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer, CCD fiber optic spectrometer test system, and rapid column passing machine. Outstanding students are very welcome to apply for the postgraduates of our team, and we also look forward to outstanding PhD graduates and post-doctoral staff who are interested in scientific research to join our research team.

Brief introduction of some recent work:

1.     By introducing heavy halogen bromine atom into N-(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)phthalimide, organic materials with force-driven ultra-long room temperature phosphorescence emission was synthesized for the first time. The crystal powder of the compound can also realize the three-color luminescence conversion between blue light, white light and yellow light during the process of turning on and off the ultraviolet lamp.

        2. It is found that a pair of AIE enantiomers and its racemates have the same force-stimulating photoluminescence color variation properties and different photoluminescence activities. It owns the largest range of color variation among the organic materials of force-stimulating photoluminescence found by so far.

        3. Designed and synthesized electrochemically polymerizable organic light-emitting small molecules. Light-functional organic porous polymer (POP) film was prepared by in-situ electrochemical polymerization and applied to OLED light-emitting layer and explosives detection.

        4. By ionizing AIE molecules and introducing counter ions with a certain volume to moderately weaken the intermolecular interaction force, the ionic mechanoluminescence chromatic AIE materials with high fluorescence quantum yield and significant luminescence color change was successfully prepared. It was found that the synthesized compound can achieve long-term imaging of tumors in mice through secondary aggregation luminescence enhancement.

Related work was selected as a research highlight report by the journal.

The team is looking for post-doctoral research fellows, and welcomes outstanding researchers to join the team through the "Young Talents" and "Young Top Talents" program of the university.
